Abstract

Irving Oil is New Brunswick's largest employer, owning pulp mills, shipyards, tankers and most of the province's media. The company wants to build a tank farm on Spring Point in South Portland, and plans to file a permit application with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Irving just purchased Jet Services, a bankrupt fuel provider at the Portland International Jetport, in a nasty bidding war with Northeast Air of Portland. South Portland Concerned Citizens is fighting Irving on the company's fuel-tank project. Details, related essay.
