Abstract

Related articles on Maine's microbreweries and brew pubs, including how the state's brews measure up to the rest of the world; the Maine Brewers' Festival on November 4; who's brewing what, and how much they've brewed recently; how girls like beer too; the joys of Pabst Blue Ribbons; and a "Byte ME" piece on beer-related Web sites. The 19 Maine breweries produced 818,194 gallons of beer during the first eight months of 1995, accounting for 4.5 percent of all the beer drunk in the state. Overall beer sales in the state during the period increased just 1.65 percent over the same period in 1994, while sales of Maine beers increased 106 percent.
