Abstract

"Politics & Other Mistakes" piece on Corey Corbin of Gardiner, who wants to be the first openly gay Republican elected to the Maine House of Representatives. Corbin is a former head of the Maine College Republicans, served on the party's state committee, and ran unsuccessfully for Kennebec County commissioner in 1990 and GOP state chairman in 1992. Several Republican activists in central Maine said they were unaware that Corbin is gay, despite his claim that he has been open about his sexual orientation for five years.
