Abstract

"City" piece on Heritage House in South Portland, the only residential treatment program working with the state correctional system exclusively available to young women. Heritage House, which opened last month, is part of a major change in the way the Maine Department of Corrections treats young offenders. Heritage House provides educational and vocational training for its clients, and the staff holds weekly sessions on independent living skills.
