Abstract

"Edge" piece on Maine's contradancing scene. The seventh annual Downeast Country Dance Festival, scheduled for March 28-29 at Yarmouth High School, is expected to draw up to 800 participants. The Bowdoinham Town Hall has been hosting contradances for 22 years, and there are regular dances in Blue Hill, Bar Mills, Kittery, Rockport and Freeport. The Crooked Stovepipe Band hosts a monthly dance at the Presumpscot Grange in Portland.
