Abstract

"Edge" piece on Slaid Cleaves, 32, a native of South Berwick and former member of The Moxie Men, a popular Portland band. Cleaves moved to Austin, Texas, in 1991, and in 1992 won the prestigious New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Cleaves is returning to Portland for a CD release party at Raoul's on April 26. His new recording, "No Angel Knows," is on Rounder Records' Philo label.
