Abstract

The union covering 275 employees at the Hannaford Bros. distribution center in South Portland has been working without a contract since February 25, and union officials say the company is trying to bust the union. The company is demanding that it be allowed to hire non-union subcontractors while laying off union workers, and has suspended two union representatives for speaking out at company meetings.
