Abstract

"So Noted" piece lamenting the unsuccessful effort to recall Portland city councilors Jim Cloutier, Nathan Smith and Tom Kane for voting to overturn the May municipal election in favor of Ethan Strimling, who challenged incumbent councilor Jack Dawson for the council's at-large seat. By failing to settle the issue with a recall election, the author fears the people of Portland have opted to stumble along with a deeply divided Council that's sadly lacking in credibility.
