Abstract

Sean Ryder-Kenna, Behzad Habibzai, Randy Estes, 17, Destiny Ward, all current or former students at Portland High School, and Aaron Paulson, Emily Pelletier, and Kevin Sturdtevant, students at Deering, Gorham, and Falmouth high schools, respectively, reflect on the pros and cons of staying in the Portland area after leaving high school. Some feel adults here have a negative attitude toward the young, and they don't believe the city offers them much of a future even though many would like to stay.
