Abstract

"City" piece on Popeye's Ice House, one of Portland's best-known neighborhood bars, which is in trouble with its neighbors for being a constant source of disturbances. Bernie Orne, who has operated the bar for nine years and who bought it last year, said everything he has is invested in the business and if his liquor license is revoked, he'll lose it all, including his home in Windham. The Portland City Council is scheduled to discuss renewing the bar's license at its July 17 meeting. With details about complaints investigated by the Portland Police Department.
