Abstract

S. D. Warren has received permission from the state to burn chipped tires for energy, and will probably begin doing so in the near future. Dennis Keschl, air quality chief with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, said using the tires as a fuel shouldn't result in worsened air quality, since emissions will be treated by modern pollution control equipment at the plant.
