Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on service charges being levied by Portland's banks, and advice on how to avoid them. In a 1999 survey, the U.S. Public Interest Research Group found credit unions to be a much better deal in terms of basic services. With special focus on constantly rising Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) fees.
