Abstract

"City" piece on Portland's Off-Leash Area committee, which is considering turning the former landfill off Ocean Avenue into a new, fenced site for canine exercise. The city has conducted soil and water tests at the 34-acre site and neither contained dangerous levels of toxic elements. The committee is also planning to upgrade the existing dog park on Valley Street, and will recommend to the city council that it be made a permanent canine exercise area.
