Abstract

"City" piece on the $2.4 million in budget cuts announced on Oct. 1 by Portland city manager Joe Gray. According to news accounts, Gray spared the municipal police and fire departments. But documents Gray released to city employees show the public safety agencies' spending will be reduced by nearly $500,000 and nine positions will be eliminated.
