"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on the recent political flap caused by Gwethalyn Phillips, the the chair of the Democratic Party in Maine, who inaccurately accused incumbent U.S. senator Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, of having failed to report $25,500 received from pharmaceutical, oil, and business interest, on forms filed with the Federal Elections Commission. Writer Al Diamon notes that Collins was due an apology for the inaccuracy of the charge, but maintained that she can't complain too much because of her own history of misstating facts without apologies.
