Abstract

Al Martin, an independent candidate for sheriff of Cumberland County, was stopped on High Street in Portland on August 13 for driving erratically. He was subsequently charged with operating under the influence and with being a habitual offender. Martin's license was under suspension for a previous OUI conviction and a citation for operating after suspensionwas issued. If convicted of the new charges, he faces mandatory jail time.
