"Cover Story" piece on the number of people who are seeking appointment to the Portland Planning Board. So far, 24 people have applied to fill three vacancies on the seven-member board. In the wake of last year's unsuccessful referendum to give citizens more control over neighborhood development, there's an intense amount of interest in who'll be making the decisions. Terms to the board are for three years. Kenneth Cole III and Erin Rodriguez, both attorneys, have been term-limited off the board, and developer Cyrus Hagge resigned last year to move to New York. With the name, address, phone number, occupation and experience of each of the candidates as well as their position on last year's unsuccessful referendum. Also with other comments by many of the candidates.
