Abstract

"City" piece on the 180 elderly and disabled residents of 100 State Street in Portland, who have less than half the number of off-street parking spaces they need, and none for their visitors. Many spaces are occupied by workers and visitors at Mercy Hospital, and with the prospect of the Irish Heritage Center opening across the street in the former St. Dominic's Church, the parking crunch is going to get worse. The residents have asked the city to create two-hour parking in their area and provide all-day parking stickers for those who live in the neighborhood.
