Abstract

Review of "Maine vs. Massachusetts," held at the Portland Boxing Club in Portland on April 20. Hundreds of people watched male and female amateur boxers compete. The event featured nine bouts, ranging from novice lightweights to experienced heavy weights from the two states. The main event, pitting Portland's Anthony "The Gladiator" Reed against James Pinkerton of Springfield, Mass., was won by Reed. The next event, "Portland vs. Montreal," will be held at the Portland Boxing Club on May 18.
