"Politics & Other Mistakes" piece on Carol Palesky of Topsham, the president of the Maine Taxpayers Action Network, which recently announced a referendum drive on a statewide property tax cap. Palesky in 1987 was convicted of stealing more than $41,000 from her employer, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court trustee, and later that year was arrested for holding up a bank in Mechanic Falls. Details.
