Abstract

"City" piece on a recent report by the state Office of Substance Abuse (OSA), which indicates the Portland area's two methadone clinics, South Portland's Discovery House and Westbrook's CAP Quality Care, are doing a fine job. The assessment was done because of the sharp rise in overdose deaths in the city this year, about half of which involved methadone. The five-page OSA document, "Methadone Clinic Site Visit Report," released May 31, contains the conclusions of what five OSA investigators found at the clinics on May 12, and 13. With details and a critique of the report.
