Abstract

Editorial on fatigued truckers, Parents Against Tired Truckers and the recent state crackdown on tired truckers. Federal deregulation of the trucking industry in 1980 has resulted in truckers needing to work longer hours to make the same wage they made ten years ago. The top three trucking companies in the country account for one-half the revenues of the top 25 companies, and the number of licensed carriers has increased from 17,000 in 1979 to more than 45,000.
