Abstract

"Gay Writes" piece on the 2000 Census and Same-Sex Households, a report analyzing census data published by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute, Portland ranks third in the number of same-sex households, as a proportion of all households, in a metropolitan area. San Francisco ranks first, and Santa Fe, second. But a recent issue of Population Today, published by the Population Reference Bureau, lists Portland as third among cities with the highest concentration of lesbian couples, and 10th with the highest concentration of gay male partners.
