Abstract

The city of Portland on October 7 removed the benches from Longfellow Square because of complaints from businesses about the unsavory characters hanging out there. Other businesses, citizens and members of the Friends of the Park Commission are unhappy with the removal. City Councilor Orlando Delogu and Mayor Dick Paulson wanted the benches removed, but City Manager Robert Ganley said they will probably be back in the spring.
