Abstract

The Maine State Nurses Association says that Maine hospitals are cutting staff, and some tasks previously performed by nurses have been delegated to untrained employees. Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford is one area hospital the organization says has replaced registered nurses with unlicensed personnel.
