Abstract

Maine Bureau of Medical Services officials, Pine Tree Legal Assistance lawyers and representatives of Habit Management Institute and Discovery House have worked out a tentative plan to continue using Medicaid funds to transport addicts to the two South Portland methadone clinics. Funds were shut off July 26, leaving addicts with no reliable way to get to the clinics to receive medication. Under the tentative agreement, the clinics will reimburse clients for their travel costs, and the clinics will be paid back by the state from Medicaid funds.
