Abstract

Portland Trails, dedicated to the construction of a system of recreational trails in the Forest City, got its start in 1989, and has a goal of 30 miles of trails by 1999. In September the group acquired a 30-acre parcel of land wrapping around Portland's East End, which is intended for conversion to a footpath that will eventually be linked with the Back Cove path.
