Abstract

Feature article on the town of Bridgton, which is located in the center of western Maine's lakes region and has nine ponds completely or partially within its borders. The town has 4,883 year-round residents and is filled with one-of-a-kind antique shops and mom-and-pop stores The Magic Lantern, the town's only indoor theater, dates from the era of the first talkies in the 1920s. Traditionally, Bridgton vacationers have been summer people who stay the season rather than just for a week or two.
