Abstract

Article about puffin-grubbing on Matincus Rock, profiling Sue Schubel, 31, an experienced seabird biologist who has been studying and protecting the island's fledgling puffin colony for the past three summers as part of the National Audubon Society's Seabird Restoration Project. Puffin-gubbing is an annual summer event on Matinicus Rock during which puffin chicks are weighed, measured, and banded before being released back to the safety of its burrow.
