Abstract

"The Talk of Maine" piece on the unlikely success of the mid-winter Camden Conference, which for the past nine years has drawn top names in foreign policy and a packed house of mostly local participants. Organized in 1987 by resident Bob Tierney, a retired Foreign Service officer, the conference is now limited to about 340 people by the capacity of the First Congregational Church and attracts presenters because of Camden's small-town atmosphere and charm. With a list of conference topics to date.
