Abstract

"Along the Waterfront" piece about the Maine Cat 22, a 22-foot catamaran, with a thirteen-foot beam that folds to 8-1/2 feet for trailering, and will sail at about ten knots with an easily handled rig and will make five knots with a four-horsepower outboard. The boat can carry 1,200 pounds, and has room for four people. The boat, which is being produced in a shop just off Route 1 in Damariscotta, is the idea of Dick Vermeulen of Jefferson, who worked with Dick Newick, a leading hull-designer, and others to perfect the design.
