Abstract

Article about North Haven, an island in Penobscot Bay, and about the summer homes of some of the rich and powerful who vacation there. Included among the influential people with North Haven connections are: Thoms J. Watson Jr., the longtime chief executive of IBM; the Cabots of Boston; Francils Chandler, head of the department of architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Thomas Lamon of Wall Street fame; landscape painter Lewis Herzog; financier and presidential personal secretary Charles D. Norton of New York; Dwight Morrow, banker, ambassador, and U.S. senator; and others.
