Abstract

"Making It In Maine," piece on Rodney Regier, 46, of Freeport, who worked in oceanography before devoting himself to crafting fine wood-framed harpsichords and fortepianos. His wife, Shirley Matthews, a professional pianist and harpsichordist, had summered in Maine and introduced him to the state. Each of the instruments he and his assistant builds takes about year to complete and commands a price of up to $34,000.
