Abstract

"Dining Down East" piece on the Burning Tree restaurant in Otter Creek, about halfway between Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor. It is run by Elmer Beal, 50, and his wife Allison Martin, 36. A native of Bar Harbor, Beal teaches at College of the Atlantic (COA) and is a folk musician. He comes from the same family that has operated the popular Beal's Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor for three generations. The Burning Tree specializes in very fresh seafood. Martin, who says she comes from a food-obsessed family, graduated from COA.
