Abstract

"North by East" piece on the effect on the Maine arts scene of the Skowhegan School, a summer arts program that attracts highly talented teachers and students, many of whom continue to do art in Maine. More than 70 artists who live in Maine or spend substantial time here attended the 50-year-old school.
