Abstract

"Inside Maine" piece about the Birches, a well-known Rockport sporting camp that rents out two yurts available for rent to outdoorsmen who are reluctant to pitch a tent in the snow. The yurts, round structures made of canvas and wood, look like medieval tents, allow all the comforts of camping, but woodstoves inside. The yurts sit along a trail in the Birches thirty-mile cross-country ski network.
