Abstract

"North by East" piece on fifty public libraries in Maine from Kennebunk to Van Buren that have become part of the first statewide public wireless Internet access system in the country. Karl Beiser of the Maine State Library is using a $120,000 grant from the Maine Learning Technology Endowment to equip the libraries for what he calls the WalkIn Wireless Service.
