Abstract

An article on the new popularity of Saco, a mini-metropolis with a small-town feel. The town of 18,000 holds a Great Pumpkin Festival on Halloween. It has a Main Street Maine program to guide development, and residents say they have a strong sense of community. With comments from residents and newcomers and details on the Saco Museum, the Dyer Library, and the Lily Moon Cafe and Bakery, which received strong community support after a fire.
