Abstract

"What's in a Picture?" piece on Montpelier, the mansion that General Henry Knox built in Thomaston. A picture taken around 1870 shows the dereliction of the home less than a year before it was razed for a railway. A replica was built just over the hill from the site 75 years ago. This summer, the general's birthday will be celebrated there on July 23.
