Abstract

A husband and wife team built their dream house on the footprint of a small cottage at the tip of Georgetown Island. They wanted to experience the elements as closely as possible, have the house authentically reflect historic antecedents, and recycle elements of the original cottage. Rob Whitten of Whitten + Winkelman Architects in Portland and local finish carpenter John Rogers helped them realize their vision.
