Abstract

"What's in a Picture?" piece on a 1984 photo of Bangor novelist Stephen King with nine-year-old Drew Barrymore at the Bangor Civic Center, following the world premiere of "Firestarter," in which Barrymore played the lead character. Both King and Barrymore went on to conquer similar addictions. King was responsible for bringing the premiere to Bangor and raising $10,000 for Northeast COMBAT, a local consumer-advocacy group. The philanthropic activities of King and his wife, Tabitha, grew from there.
