Abstract

A special section on Maine education, including articles on secret sources of college financial aid, some of it untapped, and Maine's ten town academies, which besides serving as local high schools, also serve as private preparatory schools that attract international students, particularly from Asia. With details on the privately run academies and a look at one public school, the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, which was ranked 35th out of close to 19,000 schools by the U.S. News & World Report.
