Abstract

Thirty-eight hundred students attend school at home in Maine. Home-schooling in Maine is growing at 7 percent a year, and parents represent a cross-section of the state. Maine has very much a laissez-faire attitude toward home-schooling, much of it due to the state's first home-schoolers, Maria Holt and Elizabeth King. Details.
