Abstract

"The Talk of Maine" piece on "Tracing the Fore," a tax-payer-funded $100,000 installation on Fore Street created by artist Shauna Gillies-Smith that has been likened to "a bunch of dangerous razors protruding from a weed patch." A group of residents would like to remove the installation, which many deem to be an eyesore. With a discussion of public art in Maine and of Maine's Percent for Art program.
