Abstract

The "Nottingham Galley," a British merchant vessel sailing from Ireland to Boston in 1710, gave rise to a renowned shipwreck saga when it ran aground on Boon Island. Kenneth Roberts wrote a novel of the incident, called "Boon Island." With a detailed account of the story, which featured cannibalism.
