Abstract

"What's in a Picture?" piece on a July 5, 1920 photo of a woman participating in Portland's Parade of Horribles, standing near the Second Parish Church on Congress Street wearing a wildly-patterned dress and a mask and holding a pennant that reads "Votes for Women". The Horribles satirized local government and recent events with wild costumes and skits.
