Abstract

"Letters" piece commenting on plans to move the Portland Public Library into the former Portland Public Market building, calling the $13 million plan a "flawed vision." Author Philip Thompson questions why the city should be burdened with the cost of a flawed plan when the library's current facility could be upgraded. The real need of the city is to have a "Pulse," an intermodal exchange for commuters, buses and taxis modeled after South Station in Boston.
