Abstract
The Portland School Committee will vote Sept. 3 on a contract that would allow the Portland Public Library to continue using the East End School Library and expand the number of hours the school library is open to the public, including while school is in session. Initial concerns over student's safety have been addressed by the installation of security cameras. If approved, the changes will remain in effect for two years during the renovation of the library's main branch on Monument Square.
