Abstract

Officials from the city and the Portland Public Library will meet with Riverton residents to discuss the future of the library's Riverton branch, which had been slated for closure because of a tight budget. The city gave the library $90,000 to fund the branch for another year and to give the library time to find an alternative way to serve the remote neighborhood. At the June 8 meeting, library director Steve Podgajny planned to discuss the possibility of automatic checkouts and a smaller space.
