Abstract

An article on Maine libraries partnering to meet the demand for eBooks, with mention of the Portland Public Library, which is among the growing number of public libraries allowing patrons to download books for free through the Maine InfoNet Download Library. A pre-Christmas workshop about eReaders and eBooks drew about 55 people to the Portland Public Library on relatively short notice. Executive Director Steve Podgajny says he expects public libraries to absorb the new technology in order to survive.
